Texas Public Ajuster / Loss Consultant / Insurance Appraisal Services
Q What is a public adjuster?
A public adjuster is a licensed and bonded insurance authority whose sole purpose
is to represent the interest of the policyholder. The public adjuster does not
work for an insurance carrier or an independent insurance company but for the
policyholder only. They are retained to represent the home or commercial owner
to protect their financial interests in the settlement of insurance claims.
The public adjuster represents the pollcyholder such
as an attorney would a client. They interpret each insurance policy as they
apply to each specific loss. They compile damage reports and prepare estimates
and then present the information to the insurance company adjuster to negotiate
MAXIMUM settlement.
Q Are Public Adjusters licensed professionals?
Public Adjusters are licensed in some states. Both Texas and Florida require
Public Adjusters to be licensed.
Q When should you call a Public Adjuster?
Call us whenever the need arises. Whether you have just filed the initial claim report, in the middle of a claim that still has not been settled , or at the end of an unfair payout, we can help.
If at any time during your claim process you feel you
are getting a run around with your insurance company and not being treated or
compensated fairly, or if you are unsure of which direction to take, contact
us. We can assist.
Our initial visit is always free where we will inform you if our services are
needed.
Q I have already received a payment for my claim from
the insurance company. Is it too late to reopen my file?
Probably not depending on the time limits in your individual state to file for
supplemental payments.
Q Can I negotiate my own property loss?
Certainly, but it might not be in your best interest to do so. Often property
owners are not completely familiar with the terms and conditions of their insurance
policy, nor with their rights and obligations in the event of a loss.
Q Shouldn’t I hire a lawyer rather than a Public
Adjuster?
In case of litigation with the insurance company you should definitely hire
a lawyer. However, you can go to court only after you comply with certain provisions
in your policy. Your lawyer does not deal with matters of damage assessment
or the scope of loss, and will likely hire a Public Adjuster to document the
loss and accomplish the required steps.
Q Why can’t my agent handle the loss for me?
Your agent is trained, and paid for determining your insurance needs. He is
not trained to adjust claims. Your insurance agent is actually working for the
insurance company. When you ask someone to divide his loyalties you usually
compromise his position.
Q Will the public adjuster’s fee be included in
my claim?
No, the public adjuster’s fee is offset by securing an appropriate settlement
in excess of what the insured can obtain for himself.
Q I have a leaking shower pan that has caused damage
to my home, is this loss too small for a Public Adjuster to handle?
Absolutely not. Property damage can occur from leaking air conditioning pans,
broken water pipes, a high wind storm, or hail. These losses can be as frustrating
to deal with as a major property loss. A public adjuster provides assistance
on any size damages.
Q How do I hire a Public Adjuster?
You can contact us and request a review of your loss. We will need a copy of
your insurance declaration page, your policy and any estimates your claim has
been paid on.
