A public adjuster is a licensed and bonded insurance authority whose sole purpose is to represent the interest of the policyholder. The public adjuster does not work for an insurance carrier or an independent insurance company but for the policyholder only. They are retained to represent the home or commercial owner to protect their financial interests in the settlement of insurance claims.

The public adjuster represents the pollcyholder such as an attorney would a client. They interpret each insurance policy as they apply to each specific loss. They compile damage reports and prepare estimates and then present the information to the insurance company adjuster to negotiate MAXIMUM settlement.

They are well trained to adjust the claim by offering the policyholder a settlement based on the lowest bid submitted by contractors or their own evaluation. The Public Adjuster works on the policy holder's behalf to represent their best interests and get a fair settlement from the insurance company. The policyholder has the right to choose his own contractor and not be limited to the lowest bid.
